About Us
Praise, encouragement, and a positive and nurturing environment are the cornerstones of childcare at Little Gems Child Care. Our programs are designed to prepare your child for kindergarten both academically and socially, and our after school program will provide the tools for your child to excel. Little Gems Child Care collaborates with area schools to ensure both our staff and the curriculum and activities we teach are the best in preparing your child for school.
Our Staff
Lisa Perez
Executive Director - Little Gems and Little Gems Jr.
"I’m Lisa, I am the Executive Director of Little Gems and Little Gems Jr. I am fortunate to spend time between both of our centers. I have the opportunity to build relationships with children and families at Little Gems, as well as Little Gems Jr. I believe that relationships, bonds and meaningful interaction are the building blocks of life. Part of my role as Executive Director is to keep abreast of, and advocate for the Early Childhood profession.
I’m from the Omaha area. I enjoy coffee, clothes, music and traveling! I have two children of my own.
I have been at this center since 2013. I have been in the field of Early Childhood Education since 2008. I started as an infant teacher, but gained most of my classroom experience as a preschool teacher. I became a Director in 2015 and Managing Director in 2016. I recognize how crucial the early years of a child’s life truly are. Not only am I passionate about children, child development itself is a huge passion of mine, especially social and emotional. I find a child's overall growth and development fascinating! The fact that I get to have any involvement in that is incredibly rewarding.
As a mother, I understand the importance of quality care. I’m also aware of how difficult it can be placing your child in the care of anyone else, let alone a child care center. Thus being another reason I love my job. Being able to provide that peace of mind and comfort to parents, means the world to me. I take this job seriously and I expect no less from our staff here.
Annie Lockhart
Director - Little Gems
"Hi! I am Annie Lockhart. I've worked at this location for four years. I truly love my job and cannot picture myself doing anything else with my life. I have worked in the childcare industry for 15 years and have enjoyed every second of being with these kids and watching them grow and progress into amazing human beings. I find that working with these children every day keeps me happy and healthy in all areas of life. Seeing their smiles every morning brightens my day. I have one son who is 8 (going on 16) and keeps me on my toes at home. I love sharing my love of music and musicals with my son, and most times you can come in and hear me singing either in a classroom full of kids or in the kitchen cooking lunch (sorry in advance! :) )."
Taylor Martin
Asst. Director - Little Gems
"Hello, my name is Taylor Martin. I have been working in the child care industry since 2016 and I could not be a happier person since doing so. I grew up in Blair with my mom and two sisters and moved to Omaha upon graduating high school to attend Metro and then UNO. Some hobbies of mine are skateboarding, reading, attending concerts, and hanging out with my cat, Simon. Establishing and growing upon relationships built with the kids here is one of my most cherished parts of being a teacher. Being able to learn with, from, and about the kids is something I am grateful for everyday. The opportunity to make their day fun and learn while they are at it is one I do not take for granted."
Kylene Wilson
Teacher - Little Gems Jr.
"Hello! My name is Kylene but you can call me Kylee! I was born and raised here in the Omaha metro area. Fun fact: I actually grew up in my great-grandparents home. I've always loved kids and babies. Watching them grow and learn new things is one of the most amazing things in the world. I'm also an animal... hobbiest (my family might say that word is demure). I have chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, and a couple dogs! If I have a chance to make those world collide, I'll take it! (So don't be surprised to hear all sorts of fun animal sounds from your kids!)"
